Ma. - More action: edition 1

Ma. finally visited Ghana for the first time. As many of you know one of the main goals we currently have at Ma. is tackling period poverty in Ghana. 10% of all profits go towards doing charitable things exactly like this.

From 6th - 11th June 2022, we purchased over 1200 sanitary packs and were able to donate them to women in 20 different schools across the Asunafi South District.

We spent a couple of days visiting the district assembly to gain information regarding travel and to find someone to accompany us to these schools. We had never been there ourselves and they were quite rural, so having the minister of Education with us was a blessing. We also had to visit a few of the schools we could ahead of time to let them know what we intended to do. Once this was all done we set out to buy the sanitary packs in bulk.

We set off to visit the first set of schools on the morning of the 8th June. Due to the limited hours in a school day - and the rural situation of the schools - we visited 10 on this day and visited the rest in the subsequent days. One flat tyre later, we made it back home (I was worried this was it for ma and that we’d be stranded from here on out).

Each female student were given 2-3 packs of sanitary towels in the 20 schools we visited. We also donated many to the female staff and the schools.

After over 24 hours of travel and a lot of visits we had finally completed the task at hand. All the sanitary packs were distributed. It was a truly great experience being able to make a direct impact for each of these students and we hope to return to do bigger and better in the future.
